MY HOPES FOR THE FUTURE

The ten-week language class is coming to an end. I think my speaking and listening skills have improved a lot. When I was writing a thesis for each project, the teacher gave me a lot of writing skills. My ability to draw sketches has also improved. I am most grateful to Charlotte. She gave me a lot of help in this period. When I had some problems, she always helped me patiently. She gave me a very serious assignment, specifically to the use of each punctuation with my project, she is a very responsible teacher. The educational model here is completely different from that of China. My grammar and logical thinking have improved a lot. I enjoy this status and I am fully prepared to enter the post-graduated courses.

During these two months, I visited a lot of fashion shows and I got a deeper understanding of my post-graduated major.I want to learn more fashion ideas in this year’s post-graduated program. and make a set of works with my own style. And in the future work, I want to work in international fashion brand companies, I can accumulate more experience and resources. In the long run, I want to open my own fashion studio.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

I will study in Business School for the Creative Industries, and my major is fashion business & management, There are three examples of the sustainable development of the fashion designer.

First, I would like talk about the Stella McCartney,This is an independent designer brand. All the clothes she designed are made of recycled materials and natural viscose fiber. She introduced“Clevercare”. When people clean clothes, they can try to use drying method to avoid washing machine, after the clothes are stained, people can only wash the stained parts to save water and reduce energy consumption.

Secondly, I would like to introduce two other brands. Rrespectively Steph Gabriel and Marcus Wainwrigh,One of these two brands is to use recycled plastic garbage to make swimwear, and the other is to recycle denim and use it as an insulating material for construction.

These brands are sustainable design brands, not only the brand characteristics, but also environmental and socio-economic sustainability.

Influential Fashion

My post graduated major is fashion business & management, in fashion, the two people who have influenced me the most are Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo. they are japanese fashion designer. meanwhile, they give me a lot of inspiration in the past time.

First ,I would like talk about Yohji Yamamoto, this fashion designer was most popular in Japan and internationally. he created his own brand in Japan and he had a cooperation with other brands, such as Adidas(Y-3) and Hermès . The clothes he designed are known for his excellent tailoring and are dominated by black. The material of clothes are focuses on diversity, and the version of the clothes is mainly loose.

The clothes designed by Rei Kawakubo was different than Yohji Yamamoto, she focused on asymmetry. She also found her own brand which was called Comme des Garçons, Her design is also dominated by black.Heart is a unique symbol of her brand.

The design styles of these two people are similar, and my favorite color is also black. I often pay attention to their news. Sometimes,I got more understanding,it helps me to match my clothes better.

SUMMARY

From this project, On the one hand, understanding the importance of teamwork ability, our group division is very clear, two people are responsible for collecting information, and two other people are organizing and editing the information. On the other hand, my understanding of depression is more comprehensive. This is a process that is constantly explored and overcome. I have this kind of mood and actively solve it through self-directed.

I edited a short video for this project. This is a mix video. I collected a lot of information about depression from the Internet, and some video about how to overcome the depression, finally I edited them.

I hope that our work will enable international students with depression to have a deeper understanding of depression and face it correctly, which has a positive impact on them. For example, overseas students can understand the factors that cause depression, and when they have this kind of mood, they can avoid this kind of mood. This will effectively prevent depression.

MY ADVISE

Our project is “real me”, our aim means overseas students who suffering from depression can recognize their inner self and face depression with a positive attitude and a right way. Maybe we will use the short video and posters to show our idea, we will display the short video and posters in the school and dormitory. We want to create groups in some social apps, such as facebook and Instagram, which provides a way for students to communicate conveniently.

Through the implementation of these methods,it will have a certain propaganda role. To a certain extent, this may encourage some students with depression to treat their emotions correctly, boldly express their own ideas, and create optimistic and positive. Mentality. And we will also do a questionnaire, first, we will make a table, and then we will hand it out to the overseas students, they answered questions anonymously, Finally we can collect the statistics and have a conclusion.  This method is close to the life of overseas students, and it can also play a propaganda role: to face and solve depression with a positive attitude.

TRIP TO BRIGHTON

Last Friday, we went to Brighton and visited the Brighton Museum and art gallery, which has a lot of modern British collections, including recent art-inspired works. I also saw a lot of art-designed furniture. There are many different styles in this museum. There are many glass and ceramic collections and photography works.

I am most interested in photography, and many small animals use macro lenses to shoot the details of them. It is Very detailed, and most of the photographic images with photoshop, which makes the picture more interesting.

In the afternoon, we went to the beach. The sea here is bluer than the sea I have seen in China, and there are many seagulls in the sky. This is rare in China. I think the environment here is beautiful and suitable for life.

This trip is very happy. The three museums I visited have different styles, which makes me more aware of the collection styles of different countries in different eras. And some in-depth investigations after class let me know more details, which will help me a lot in my postgraduate study. Maybe I can get some inspiration from it and use it in my future design.

Review About Bjarke Ingels

I saw a lecture about Bjarke Ingels last Thursday. He is a very famous architectural designer in Denmark. We saw a documentary about him and his architecture. This documentary details his architecture and his design inspiration. I am attracted by the style of these buildings.

I am most interested with the VM Houses and Mountain Dwellings that he designed. His inspiration comes from the concept of Le Corbusier’s living unit. The two residential areas are the footprints of the letter V and M. The structure of the building pays special attention to the structure and lighting effects. There are 80 different types of apartments in Mountain Dwellings, which can satisfy people’s choice of room types. The corridors in the building are very short and convenient.
In the evening, different floors will emit different colors of light, and the location of the building is superior, which is more suitable for life.

In addition, his design has won many international awards. In 2010, he also designed a circular corridor for the Danish pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo. His design inspiration is worth learning. I want to learn from his work in my future works and combine with his inspiration.

SKETCH FROM MY PROJECT 2

I draw these two pictures in Pitt River museum. The two pictures showed houses from the different tribes. When I saw them in the museum.I thought the style of these two houses was very special.

The first picture showed the house of TODA , this tribe live in the hills and the door were small and there were big animals on the hills. So there were no windows and the doors were very small, and people had to bend over to get in.

The second picture showed the other style of the house. I know that the shelter be found of deerskin and wooden stick. The shelter can keep heat for residents. And it can make insect away. The shelter is easy to constructed in the open by hunter.

I think the wisdom of the ancient people is very admirable. For example, the second picture of the house, the traces of the wire patching above, although I don’t know what the material is made of, but it is certain that people have had creative ideas at that time. The design of ancient houses laid the foundation for the design of modern houses.

THE POTTERY OF ISLAMIC MIDDLE EAST

Last week, I went to the Oxford with my classmates, and we visited the Ashmolean Museum. I saw a lot of collections there. I was most interested in the pottery of Islamic middle east.

When I came into the museum,I saw a lot of collections which is about pottery. these pottery from different countries and ages. they had different modeling, pattern and colour. My favorite is a pane of tiles and a pair of doors with geometric illustrations. The pane tiles are between 1400 and 1430, from Syria, and the whole piece is blue and white. There are decorative patterns of plants and geometrics, simple and not conflicting, and the two elements are perfectly blended. The door was made in Egypt, and it was made earlier than pane, it using wood, ivory carvings and ebony inlays with elements of the cross. It may indicate that these may belong to a church.

I think that the patterns of these ancient tiles have a great effect on modern decoration. A large part of the modern decorative style elements are the ancient decorative patterns borrowed from it, and many years ago, people could design such patterns, at that time human Design ability was excellent.
